I really liked “Don’t Breathe,” the horror movie from 2016 with the blind antagonist and potential victims who had to be careful to not make a sound. That movie had interesting characters, a unique setting, and some great scares. “A Quiet Place” keeps the silence, but forgoes the other elements.

Lamar Community College recently welcomed nearly 800 high school students to campus for the Future Farmers of America Career Development Day, the largest crowd yet for the event.  Seven Hundred-Eighty FFA members from 42 schools throughout Colorado and Oklahoma attended and competed in a range of events.

The Kiowa County Commissioners Regular meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Richard Scott on March 13, 2018. Scott opened the meeting with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Those in Attendance were: Richard Scott, Chairman; Cindy McLoud, Commissioner; Donald Oswald, Commissioner; Delisa Weeks, County Clerk; Tina Adamson, County Administrator

McLoud moved and Oswald seconded the motion to approve minutes as presented. Motion carried.

A skier who died Sunday in an avalanche near Aspen has been identified as John Galvin, 57, of Roaring Fork Valley.

The risk for rapidly spreading fires will be high across the eastern half of Colorado Wednesday and Thursday as dry and very warm conditions return to the region.
