Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper ordered flags remain lowered at half-staff to honor the victims of the attack in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and as proclaimed by President Barack Obama. Flags should remain lowered until sunset on Friday, July 22, 2016.

Flags were ordered to be lowered on July 15 in honor of the victims of the attack in Nice, France.

Our communities would like to express their condolences to the family of Gerald Nix, who passed away recently.  Gerald was a teacher at Plainview School for several years.  From there, he taught in Tribune, KS, where he resided until a couple years ago, when he moved to California to be nearer his youngest son.  His services were Monday morning in Tribune, KS.

Hot days ahead, with daytime highs in the upper 90s to low 100s, however periods of slight relief are on the way as the Colorado monsoon season begins to build.

The closed-season school board meeting was called to order half an hour late by its chairman, J. Buckdancer Alcott, because the board members saw Windy Wilson sitting in the audience.

 Windy had no children, and he sure as sugar wasn’t a teacher, but he could talk. And he was patiently biding his time. Despite the board’s foot dragging through the agenda, Windy didn’t give up and go home.

The same study reports that by 2018 the use of the internet in North America will increase 3.3 times. The National Weather Service issued a series of tornado warnings for eastern Kiowa County Friday afternoon. The first warning was issued shortly before 2:30 p.m. for a storm with a radar-confirmed tornado 13 miles north of Towner. The warning was renewed twice before being allowed to expire.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued mid-way through the tornado activity.
