The National Weather Service issued a series of tornado warnings for eastern Kiowa County Friday afternoon. The first warning was issued shortly before 2:30 p.m. for a storm with a radar-confirmed tornado 13 miles north of Towner. The warning was renewed twice before being allowed to expire.
A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued mid-way through the tornado activity.
Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper Friday ordered flags to remain at half-staff to honor the victims of the attack in Nice, France, and as proclaimed by President Barack Obama. Flags should be lowered until Tuesday, July 19 at sunset.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife says that it found a deer that was infected with Chronic Wasting Disease just east of the city of Montrose in Game Management Unit 65.
The deer, found last spring, died on private property. The disease was confirmed by Colorado State University’s western slope veterinary lab.

Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) announced Friday (July 15, 2016) the Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded Pueblo, Colorado $1,031,960 to expand the Pueblo Convention Center. According to the EDA, the grant will “create 150 jobs and leverages $85 million in private investment.”

The Denver Post Pedal the Plains Bicycle Tour is calling all artists to be a part of the 5th annual Poster Art Challenge! We’re looking for one artistic poster to represent the 2016 Pedal The Plains Bicycle Tour. The winning poster will be sold at the event.
The poster contest winner will receive a bike donated from Project ReCycle, a framed poster courtesy of Frame de Art and recognition of their poster across all Pedal The Plains social media networks and website. A portion of the proceeds for every poster sold will be donated to the winner’s charity of choice.
