Fire and Ice – Weekend Closes with Fire Danger and Snow Storm
For the fourth consecutive day, portions of southeast Colorado will be under a red flag warning due to the high risk of fire across the region, while several inches of snow are expected elsewhere in the state.

- A ceremony in Prowers County officially launched a transmitter which will serve the weather warning needs for a large portion of Kiowa County.
- Weisbrod Auxiliary agrees to purchase clippers. The old clippers had disappeared from the nursing home and weren’t working properly anyway.

Home Country
Doc was just getting up to leave the philosophy counter as Herb walked in. Herb was grinning and flexing muscles and had the look of eagles in his eyes. We stared.
“Herb,” said Doc. “You know, you can overdo a good thing.”
“Why Doc … whatever do you mean?”
“I realize that getting more exercise is your resolution for the new year, but a man your age … you need to pace yourself a little, that’s all. Don’t try to get in shape all at once.”
Death Notice - Bonnie Lessenden
The Lessenden and Spady families learned that Bonnie Lessenden died Saturday.
Thank you for your prayers over the last five months.
