IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:
Free Fishing Statewide This Weekend
Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s annual free fishing weekend takes place June 4-5. Licenses are not required for the weekend, however all other regulations and fees including Bag Limits and the State Park Vehicle Pass apply.
Throughout the remainder of the season, a license is required and is valid for a full year from April 1. One-day licenses can also be purchased.
Local Students Named to Deans Honor Roll at Fort Hays State University
Several Colorado students are among the 1,341 named by Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan., to the Deans Honor Roll for the spring 2016 semester.
The list includes undergraduate students only. To be eligible, students must have enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60 for the semester. Full-time on-campus and FHSU Virtual College students are eligible.
Fort Hays State is one of six universities in the Kansas Board of Regents system.

Local Students Awarded Semester Honors as Kansas State University
More than 3,650 Kansas State University students have earned semester honors for their academic performance in the spring 2016 semester.
Students earning a grade point average for the semester of 3.75 or above on at least 12 graded credit hours receive semester honors along with commendations from their deans. The honors also are recorded on their permanent academic records.

For Your Health: Fiber is Your Friend

Medical and nutritional research continues to provide a host of reasons to increase dietary fiber in our diets. Fiber consumption appears to significantly lower risks for developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes and high blood pressure.
"Increasing dietary fiber by consuming foods high in fiber, the leading source of which is fruits and vegetables, is a healthy choice," said Amy Kunugi, chair of the Colorado Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association Nutrition and Health Committee.
