Colorado AgrAbility Program workshops set across the state

Workshops have been scheduled across Colorado to promote agriculture independence for people with functional limitations, such as long-term illness, permanent injury, or aging.

The Colorado AgrAbility Project promotes "success in agriculture for people with disabilities or other physical challenges, and their families," and is part of a national network of programs under the United States Department of Agriculture that began with the 1990 Farm Bill.

Search is on for southeastern Colorado nurses to be nominated for awards

The Southeastern Colorado Area Health Education Center has announced its search for nurses to be nominated for the 2020 Nightingale Awards. These awards are presented to a select number of nurses throughout the state each year by the Colorado Nurses Foundation in collaboration with SECAHEC. SECAHEC conducts the search for nominees from throughout the 15 southeastern Colorado counties it serves. Other Area Health Education Centers secure nominations from other parts of the state.

This Sunday marked a noteworthy date in Kiowa County weather history. December 29, 2006, 28 inches of snow fell at Sheridan Lake in a 24-hour period. That is the record one-day snowfall for the county. This is also the record for a two-day snowfall.

The most snow to ever fall in Kiowa County in a three-day time span was 32 inches at Haswell November 5, 1946.

No snow in the forecast for next week as we go into a warming trend with drier weather.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are looking fair to partly cloudy, with highs in the 40s and lows in the teens.
