• Linly Stum of Towner gave a slide presentation to the Eads Middle & High School on his trip to Russia.

• Wild Horse Roundup Curtis Schrimp: I went out at 3:45am & saw a few meteors, what I saw wouldn’t call a shower as they were a good distance apart. What fascinated me was the entire sky, as it was clear and the stars looked big and close.

• Another snow fall blanketed the area with a foot of snow and almost a inch moisture. About 2 feet has fallen on Eads since winter returned in late October.

• Kiowa County won’t just be voting on proposed hospital district mill levy, they will be voting on whether or not Kiowa County will have local health care.

• Plans are progressing for the Eads Chamber of Commerce Christmas promotions. Home Decoration Contest; organization, groups or individuals window decoration. Prizes are cash, Eads Bucks and turkeys

• Word that Amity Mutual Irrigation Co will utilize John Martin Reservoir for winter storage means that Great Plains Reservoirs in Kiowa County will not receive any water soon.

• Potpourri: Whether we are aware of it, there are folks out there who think small counties like ours are inefficient and should be abolished.

• The growth of government employment in Colorado shows no sign of abating & even exceeds the national rate of increase the CPEC stated in report issued.

• Continued drilling activity and development of the land by Fremont Petroleum Co and Chevron has brought an increase in productions-adding greatly to Kiowa County economy

November 10, 1916

• Owing to the fact  that nearly 100% absentee ballots are still out, its uncertain who won the election. Clerk, Sheriff, Assessor, Superintendent, District 1 & 3 Commissioner all close in counts. Treasurer Jackson was leading Clark by good majority.

November 24, 1916

Mrs. Susie Pearcy, who on Dec 8,1914, in a fight over a cook stove south of Towner, shot and killed Mrs./ Johnson, was paroled from the State Penitentiary Oct. 29.In Mrs. Pearcy first trial in Eads, there was a hung jury. Later by agreement the case was moved to Pueblo and attorneys from both sides agreed rather than take another chance of jury, which was expensive, to let the defendant plead guilty to assault with intent to kill and was sentence by the Judge to term of 1 to 5 years
