Donald “Don” Gene McPherson

February 20, 1949 – February 15, 2021

A celebration of life for lifelong Lamar resident Donald “Don” Gene McPherson will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the Peacock Family Chapel. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar under the auspices of the local V.F.W. and American Legion Posts.

Visitation for Don will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2021, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Peacock Family Chapel.

Staff from six state agencies are being deployed to help local officials clear roadways and assist essential workers in the health care and power grid industries in the wake of 2.7 million Texans being left without power after a winter storm hit the state.

Multiple winter storms are bringing snow, ice and dangerously cold temperatures as more than 100 million Americans are under a winter weather advisory, according to the National Weather Service.

Some places have begun to grant rivers legal rights similar to a person in order to protect the waterways.

Texas governor, Greg Abbott, issued a state of emergency across the entire state ahead of the arrival of the storm, and secured a federal emergency declaration from the White House in order to make additional resources available for communities impacted by this weather event.
