Colorado Educators Invited to Apply for Free Seedling Trees 

The Colorado State Forest Service is accepting applications from all Project Learning Tree-trained educators to receive free seedling trees from its Fort Collins nursery. Interested teachers may request seedlings for planting projects on public or private land, or as awards to students for events and contests. 

The purpose of the Free Seedlings for Teachers Program is to encourage Colorado teachers to utilize PLT activities while promoting student involvement in tree planting and forest health projects.

Revamped Welding Program Provides Additional Opportunities

The Lamar Community College Welding program recently went through a facelift and redesign.   The facelift involved doubling the space of the state of the art welding shop that previously housed the program.  The welding shop now has sixteen self-ventilated welding booths with excellent equipment available for students to use in training.

Obituary - Delbert L. Beaman

Delbert L. Beaman

1945-2016

Funeral services for Delbert Beaman will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Holly, Colorado with Pastor Eugene Birt officiating.  Interment will follow at the Holly Cemetery.  Visitation for Delbert will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 from 1:00-7:00 p.m. also at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Holly.

Grants Available to Benefit Colorado’s Specialty Crops

Colorado produces a wide variety of specialty crops, from peaches and apples to chiles and hops. To help develop and promote the state’s specialty crops, the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) is seeking proposals for the Specialty Crops Block Grant Program. Specialty crops are defined as fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, and nursery crops including floriculture and sod.
