Following the recent passing of Colorado Corn Administrative Committee (CCAC) President Charlie Bartlett, CCAC board members elected Doug Wilson as the new president with a unanimous vote this past week.
"We lost an incredible leader with Charlie's passing, but we will certainly make it a priority to carry forward with his innovative and forward-thinking spirit as we address the challenges facing agriculture, and as we make investments on behalf of Colorado's corn farmers," said Wilson, who farms near Olathe.
The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) is launching a new project to tell the story of agriculture in the state.
CDA has an opportunity to partner with award-winning Journal Communications Inc., to develop and implement a communication project that will be shared in print, online and through social media.

Warm, dry days and cool evenings are in store across the weekend for Kiowa County.
Highs will be in the low to mid-70s Friday through Sunday. Winds will remain light, 5-10 miles per hour, through most of the period – with slightly stronger 15 mph wind Saturday afternoon.
Overnight, temperatures will be in the lower 40s Friday and Saturday, and falling to the upper 30s Sunday night.
Warm and dry early spring conditions continued to expand the area impacted by drought in southeast Colorado over the past week.
All of Baca and Prowers Counties are now in moderate drought. Kiowa and Bent Counties had smaller areas in drought last week, which has expanded to cover most of Kiowa and essentially all of Bent.
Drought continued to expand in Las Animas County, and now also impacts eastern Otero County.
Colorado’s oldest livestock organization will meet Saturday, April 9, 2016 in La Junta.
Bent-Prowers Cattle & Horse Growers Association’s annual meeting, auction, banquet and cowboy ball will rotate to La Junta this weekend. Events are open to the agricultural community, with the majority of events being held at Inspiration Field.
The Weisbrod Hospital Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, April 12th at 11:00 am, at the JJ’s Ranch House for lunch and a working meeting. Possible new members are encouraged to come to help plan projects for the benefit of the ECU and Hospital
