An Aurora man found guilty of beating his 84-year-old grandfather to death has been sentenced to 72 years in prison. The beating occurred after an argument that started over what to have for to dinner.
Arapahoe District Judge Phillip Douglass sentenced Jason Vanbommel, 34, to 72 years with the Department of Corrections. In April, a jury found him guilty of reckless manslaughter and first-degree assault of an at-risk adult, among other charges. First-degree assault on an at-risk adult is a Class 2 felony, reckless manslaughter is a Class 4 felony.

Conagra Brands, Inc is recalling approximately 700,125 pounds of spaghetti and meatball products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced. The product(s) contains milk, a known allergen which is not declared on the product label.
The spaghetti and meatball products were produced on Jan. 5, 2017 and Jan. 12, 2017. The following products are subject to recall:
Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has declared the week of June 18-24 as Colorado Lightning Safety Awareness Week. Lightning strikes the ground in our state over a half million times each year and with many of us participating in outdoor activities, we need to learn how to protect ourselves from lightning hazards.
Lightning is also responsible for about half of the wildfires in Colorado each year. When lightning or other conditions are conducive to a high wildfire threat, the National Weather Service will issue Fire Weather Watches or Red Flag Warnings.
A summer cold front passed across eastern Colorado Saturday, leaving Sunday’s temperatures 15 or more degrees cooler for the eastern half of the state – however heat will return in the coming week.
