Eads Property Inspections Coming August 14

Statement from the Town of Eads

"The Town of Eads will be doing property inspections on August 14, 2017. We ask that everyone in the town please have their yards cleaned up and looking nice. (ie. weeds, trash, etc.) We are wanting the town to look great for Fair and the All Class Reunion.  We thank you for your cooperation!"

Colorado Leaders Hosting Gold King Mine Town Hall Friday

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, along with Senators Cory Gardner and Michael Bennet, Representative Scott Tipton, will hold a town hall following their visit with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and tour of the Gold King Mine. They, along with representatives from the EPA, will provide an update of their meeting and take questions from attendees.

CDOT, CSP Team for Sturgis DUI Enforcement

92 agencies participating

In Colorado, motorcyclists make up just three percent of vehicles on the road but account for 18 percent of overall fatalities. To ensure safe travel for those traveling to and from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, CDOT and the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) will conduct a joint DUI-enforcement period, Aug. 4-14.

The focus of the enforcement period is not specifically on motorcycles, but any motor vehicle operated by an impaired driver.

Legislation Introduced to Increase Rural Broadband Access

Senators Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) have introduced the Advancing Innovation and Reinvigorating Widespread Access to Electromagnetic Spectrum (AIRWAVES) Act, which will encourage the federal government to continue to free up spectrum for commercial licensed and unlicensed use and leverage the success of spectrum auctions to help close the urban-rural divide.

Movie Review - The Emoji Movie

Last week I reviewed “Dunkirk” and I talked about how early reviews had set the bar impossibly high, which prevented me from appreciating the film more. This week brings us “The Emoji Movie,” and the scales are shifted the other way. This film has been a critical whipping boy since the day it was announced due to the faddish nature of its subject matter. And that prejudice seemed to be justified, with the film scoring a 0% on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes when I saw it Friday afternoon (that number has since beefed up to an 8%).
