In stark contrast to the final weekend in April, which saw temperatures in the 30s and near-blizzard conditions for parts of eastern Colorado, the first weekend in May will be largely dry with temperatures in the 70s and 80s.
Integrated Community Health Partners, better known as the Regional Care Collaborative Organization (RCCO), will be holding its monthly meeting Tuesday, May 16, 2017, 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Bent County Senior Center, 701 Park Ave in Las Animas, CO, and it is open to the public.
Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has officially proclaimed Saturday, May 6, as “Wildfire Preparedness Day” in Colorado as communities across the state come together to prepare for wildfires and take actions to reduce their wildfire risk. The proclamation, which dedicates a day to engage communities in focusing on activities that create awareness, education and action to reduce potential deaths and property losses through their preparedness efforts, coincides with the 2017 National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day.

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper has ordered flags be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, May 4, on all public buildings statewide in honor of former Colorado lawmaker and U.S. Congressman Ray Kogovsek, who died this past Sunday. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset.
