GREAT NEWS!! Jerry Weber is finally coming home this Tuesday. Welcome Home Jerry.

The 4th of July activities at Sheridan Lake have been cancelled due to the dry conditions. May try to have them over the Labor Day weekend. Will keep you informed.

Sheridan Lake and Plainview school lost their electricity due to straight line winds that hit Friday evening and took out around 40 poles. Southeast Colorado Power did a great job of getting electricity back to most everyone by Saturday evening.

"Ahhh! Coffee!" said our resident cowboy, Steve, raising his cup at the philosophy counter. "Let's raise our cups to whichever Brazilian came up with this stuff."

Very slowly, Herb Collins stood with his cup of coffee there in the midst of culture and education at the Mule Barn truck stop.

"Actually, Steve," Herb said, in his most professorial tone, "his name was Kaldi. He lived in Ethiopia."

And here Herb grinned fiendlishly at Steve. "And he was a sheepherder!"

"No way, Herb!"

Dear EarthTalk: What are some ways Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being used to fight climate change and otherwise protect the environment?  -- David James, Chico, CA

Artificial Intelligence (AI), defined as the capability of machines to imitate intelligent human behavior and learn from data, is considered by many to be the final frontier of computing. And environmentalists and tech companies are now harnessing the power of AI to service to the environment.

The Maine Street Bash is in five weeks on Saturday, July 28! It will be similar to last year, it is free to walk in and wander around the tents and spaces between 13th and 14th Streets with events in the buildings and park. If vendors want to be in the action just talk to a CLCEC Board member. There will be music from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. thanks to Terry Riley's sound system which includes live music.

Our day is filled with heat at this time of year. It commands our attention and makes our work harder. As we toil, we daydream not about love or success, but things as mundane as shade and a cool drink.

But though the oppressive heat weighs on our brains and taxes our bodies, it is the price we pay for being allowed to spend time outdoors ... and it has its one singular consolation: our summer evenings.

When the sun goes down in summer, it's romantic enough to hug a cactus.

I would like to wish a very Happy Father's Day to all the dads! Guess everyone was out and about as I didn't find very many at home today.

Garold Deines and his son Jesse celebrated Father's Day fishing at Nee Noshoe. Hope you had good luck.

Weekend before last, around 40 family members attended the Woelk Reunion in Eads.

My sis Jerene DeBono and I went to Garden City last Thursday to do some shopping.
