Deadline Approaching to Nominate Farms, Ranches for 100-Year Recognition

April 30 is the deadline this year to nominate a farm or ranch that has been in operation for at least 100 years for recognition at the Colorado State Fair.

Governor Richard Lamm created the Colorado Centennial Farms and Ranches program in 1986 to call attention to the role of agriculture in the state’s development. Families who have owned and operated their farm or ranch for 100 years or more can submit a nomination for an award, along with being recognized at the annual state fair, which begins in late August.

The high school wood shop boys built Billy a dog house next to the school crossing, but Billy preferred Aunt Ada’s couch in the cold months and a nice dog depression under an oak tree when it’s warm.
