The Kiowa County Commissioner’s Regular Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Richard Scott on February 14, 2017. Oswald opened the meeting with a prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Those in Attendance were:

Around 50 friends and family gathered at the Eagles Lodge last Saturday to help Mary Huddleston celebrate her 95th birthday. A nephew and two nieces from Topeka and Hutchinson surprised Mary when they arrived to help her celebrate. Mary would like to thank everyone who came and helped make it a very special day for her and for all the cards she received in the mail.

The Weisbrod Hospital Auxiliary members had their business meeting and lunch at J J’s Ranch House in February. They will be meeting on Wednesdays rather than Tuesdays in March 8th and April 12t at 11:00 a.m. since the J J’s owner, Jennifer Schofield, will be having cancer treatments on Tuesdays. This is the reason J J’s will be closed on Tuesdays for a while.

Our recipe uses ready-to-eat cream of mushroom soup as a base for other main dish meals, stews, sauces, or casseroles.
Ingredients
5 cups water
2 1⁄2 cups rice
1⁄4 cup onion (chopped)
1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper
1 clove garlic
1 cup milk
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
2 cups chicken (cooked, shredded)
2 cups broccoli (pieces)
3⁄4 cup reduced fat cheddar cheese (grated)
