Soil moisture supplies diminished due to very hot and dry conditions last week, although beneficial weekend moisture was received in several areas, according to the Mountain Region Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. 

Reporters in northeastern counties noted crops and livestock in areas that received moisture were doing well. A reporter noted dryland crop and rangeland conditions remained a concern for producers in areas that were drier. A reporter also noted some irrigated corn stands were uneven due to earlier dry field conditions.

Although Pixar has never made anything I’d call a “bad” movie, they’ve had mixed results with their sequels. The second and third “Toy Story” movies are just as beloved as the original, and “Finding Dory” is the highest-grossing animated film of all time. But “Monsters University” was an addendum that seemingly nobody wanted, and the two “Cars” sequels are considered the black sheep of the studio. Still, fans were clamoring for a follow-up to “The Incredibles”, the 2004 family-of-superheroes adventure that opened the door to a world that clearly needed more exploring.

April 11, 1921 - June 12, 2018

Frances Rose McSherry Graham was born on April 11, 1921 in Dwyre, New Mexico, to Grover Cleveland McSherry and Mary Ellen O’Conner McSherry.  

The 2017-2018 Lamar Community College men's basketball season was a positive one. The Lopes got to 20 wins and a region tournament appearance for the second straight season. Lamar's sophomore class had plenty to do with that, going 47-19 the past two years. Five of those sophomores will play on at the NCAA Division I or II level.
