Weather Outlook – the Week Ahead: Sunny, Dry

By Chris Sorensen

A repetitive pattern in the weather sets in this week, with little change day-to-day.

Starting Sunday, daytime highs will be around 90, continuing through Thursday. Overnight lows will be in the upper 50s.

Look for sunny days, and partly cloudy nights throughout the week.

The current forecast shows a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday evening in an otherwise dry week.

Friday starts a slight cooling trend, with a high in the mid-80s. Saturday will drop further, with the daytime high in the low 80s.

You have to hand it to Windy. When Alphonse “Windy” Wilson chooses to speak, it is a bombastic sampling of creativity. Windy has yet to find a word he can’t make better through his own unique methods.

Well, what got him fired up the other day was a meeting of the ladies of the garden club down at the nursery. Windy’s been helping Dewey with his manure business on the one day a week he spends helping others. Today wasn’t a helper day, but he couldn’t pass up the audience.

They hadn’t gotten through old business when Windy stood, smiled, and spoke.

Photo of the Week

One of our most popular features from the past 15 years - a full-page color photo on the front of the Kiowa County Press showing various impressions of life in Kiowa County. While a limited number of copies continue to be printed and distributed each week at Kiowa Healthmart, COOP C-Store in Eads, Haswell Propane, and Thunderbird Petroleum, we wanted to bring this feature to our online readers as well.
